Bobby Umar
5x TEDx Speaker | Founder | Personal Branding
Guest Intro:
In this episode, we sit down with Bobby Umar.
Bobby is a 5x TEDx speaker, a two-time LinkedIn Top Voice, and was named INC Magazine’s Top 100 Leadership Speakers. He is President of Raeallan, CEO of Discover Your Personal Brand, and founder of the Thought Leadership Branding Club, a business growth community that helps entrepreneurs turn visibility into authority, relationships, and revenue.
Before becoming a speaker, Bobby had four separate careers: engineering, brand marketing, teaching, and performing arts. About 20 years ago he launched his speaking career, which eventually led to his first TEDx talk. He’s since done five TEDx talks (and turned down four others). Over time he shifted from seeing himself as “a speaker” to seeing himself as an expert in topics like networking, soft skills, leadership, personal branding, and digital influence, with speaking, coaching, books, and content as the ways that expertise comes through.
This episode covers personal branding and clarity, how Bobby built and curates his social media presence (Twitter, LinkedIn, Substack), why he shares vulnerable content about things like binge eating disorder and his health, how he leverages TEDx talks for business growth, dealing with online haters and trolls, mindset and attachment styles, the power of focus (“the one thing”), and what entrepreneurs chase that they should let go of.
